Bora Bora: The Baby-Moon, Honeymoon & Birthday of My Dreams

Bora Bora has been perched on my bucket list for years! It’s one of those elusive destinations that feels both irresistible and so far away. Yet this year, everything aligned: my birthday on Mother’s Day, pregnancy glow, newlywed bliss... and bliss belief that dreams do come true. So, I booked it. Three flights, one boat, and 24 hours later... paradise was waiting.



The Adventure Begins

Living in Atlanta meant navigating time zones, flights, and last-minute planning. I ended up booking everything the night before launch, because, hey, I perform best under pressure! 


Here's how it unfolded:


Flight 1: Atlanta (ATL) → Los Angeles (LAX)

Average in-air flight time: 4 hours 13 minutes; gate-to-gate time around 4 hours 46 minutes. So, if you're planning it out, expect your wheels to touch down roughly 4.5 to 5 hours later depending on taxiing.


Flight 2: Los Angeles (LAX) → Tahiti ⋅ Papeete (PPT)

Most nonstop flights take between 8 to 8½ hours, though some sources give around 8 h 41 min. Either way—long enough to watch a movie or catch a nap; short enough that you’ll still land feeling excited.


So yes! Bells rang at midnight on my birthday as we boarded that flight. Talk about unforgettable!


Flight 3: Tahiti (PPT) → Bora Bora

A quick 50-minute hop over crystalline waters. However, heads-up—the local airport is open-air, not an enclosed terminal, so bring something lightweight in your carry-on to change into.


Touchdown in Paradise

We landed in Bora Bora at that tiny, charming airport, grabbed our hotel kiosk, and hopped on a boat that whisked us across impossibly turquoise waters straight to the Four Seasons. Scented cold towels, chilled water, island breeze, and instantly, I was home.


As I sat in Bora Bora watching the sun dip below the horizon, I couldn’t help but reflect on how far God has brought me in this season of life, newly married, expecting new life, and stepping into new beginnings. This trip wasn’t just about checking a box on my bucket list; it was about being reminded that God’s timing is always perfect, and His plans are far greater than our own. What once felt impossible became reality, and it filled me with so much gratitude. 


It reminded me of Ephesians 3:20: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” Bora Bora was more than a dream come true — it was a promise fulfilled.
